FORMER COUNTY RECORDER DIES
(From the Montezuma Republican)

Funeral services were said for Mrs. Ed. Jones Friday afternoon from the M.E. church at two o'clock. The Rev. J. Stanley Decker, pastor of the M.E. church had charge of the services. Mrs. C.W. Gorsuch sang "Going Home," and with Mrs. D. B. High, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." They were accompanied by Louis Gorsuch at the organ, who also played a requested organ selection. The pall bearers were: William Malcolm of Deep River, Alvin Mann of Malcom, Earl Malcolm and son, Wesley, Charles Zirbel and L.E. Thorn.

Mrs. Jones served as county recorder for three terms, going into office in 1906. She was the first woman to occupy any court house office. Her work there was excellent and she handled the office with skill and intelligence. For many years she taught school in the county and was known as a good instructor. Always interested in the Republican party, Mrs. Jones took an active part in its meetings and was one of the first committeewomen for Jackson township. In addition to this she served long and well on the park commission and did much toward its success.
