MARVIN BUNNELL, 92
Marvin Bunnell, 92, of Montezuma passed away Monday, June 21, 2010, at the Montezuma Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Montezuma. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 25, at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home. Interment was in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Montezuma First Presbyterian Church. Friends may send condolences or sign the online guestbook at www.hollandcoblefuneralhome.com. Holland-Coble Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
William Marvin Bunnell, son of William Henry and Lilly (Lamond) Bunnell was born on Nov. 8, 1917, in Montezuma. He was a 1936 graduate of Montezuma High School. After graduation, Marvin helped his father with the family farm. On Nov. 8, 1939, Marvin was united in marriage to Marjorie VeVerka in Montezuma. To this union three daughters were born, Bette, Ginger and Beth. Marvin farmed in the Montezuma area most of his life and drove the school bus for Montezuma Community School district for 20 years. Marvin and Marjorie absolutely loved to travel. They never missed an Iowa State Fair in nearly 50 years. Marvin enjoyed his annual fishing trips to Canada and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Knights of Pythians, a charter member of the Montezuma Lions Club, and a lifelong member of the Montezuma First Presbyterian Church.
HIs memory is honored by his three daughters, Bette Johnson of Lincoln, Neb., Ginger (Roger) Wykle of Bloomington, Minn., and Beth (Tim) Holland of Montezuma; eight grandchildren, Scott (Terri) Wykle, Chris (Jennifer) Wykle, Stephanie Johnson, Kimberly (John) Morris, Curt (Sara) Johnson, Corey (Michelle) Holland, Brent (Natalie) Holland and Lidnsey (Shayne) Wilcox; and 17 great-grandchildren, Laura Wykle, Jacob Wykle, Grant Wykle, Brock Wykle, Dustin Harris, Andrew Harris, Payton Morris, Delaney Morris, Harper Morris, Mason Holland, Camden Holland, Madison Holland, Dylan Holland, Kohen Holland, Talen Holland, Taylor Wilcox and Gavin Wilcox.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie; and his brother, Harry Bunnell.
