MARJORIE BUNNELL, 83

Marjorie Bunnell, 83, of Seeland Park, Grinnell, died Tuesday evening, Oct. 28, 2003, at her home from cancer.

Her funeral service was Saturday, Nov. 1, at the First Presbyterian Church in Montezuma with the Rev. George M. Salnave officiating. Interment was at Jackson Township Cemetery, Montezuma.

Casket bearers were Scott Wykle, Chris Wykle, Corey Holland, Brent Holland, Curtis Johnson, Stephanie Irish, Kimberly Morris and Lindsey Holland.

Marjorie was born March 10, 1920, at North English, the daughter of Earl and Gladys (Boles) VeVerka. Her mother died when Marjorie was two years old and her father remarried *Ruby. The family moved to Montezuma in 1933. She graduated from Montezuma High School in 1937. On Nov. 8, 1939, she was united in marriage to Marvin Bunnell at Montezuma. To this union, three daughters were born, Bette, Ginger and Beth. Together they farmed near Montezuma until moving to Grinnell in 2001. Marjorie also worked for the Montezuma Sale Barn for 20 years, in the kitchen at Montezuma Community Schools and as a clerk at Anderson Clothing. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and KYN Club. She enjoyed sewing and was an accomplished seamtress. She also loved crocheting and crafts. Her pride and joy were her family and grandchildren.

Marjorie is survived by hr husband of nearly 64 years, Marvin, of Grinnell; three daughters, Bette Johnson of Lincoln, Neb.; Ginger (Roger) Wykle of Bloomington, Minn., and Beth (Tim) Holland of Montezuma; eight grandchildren, Scott (Terri) Wykle, Chris (Jennifer) Wykle, Stephanie (Ted) Irish, Kimberly (John) Morris, Curtis Johnson, Corey (Michelle) Holland, Brent (Natalie) Holland, Lindsey Holland (and Shayne Wilcox); seven great-grandchildren, Mason Holland, Dylan Holland, Lora Wykle, Jacob Wykle, Grant Wykle, Dustin Harris and Andrew Harris; a brother, Sylvan VeVerka of Montezuma; a sister, Jean Mohr of Victor and other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Naomi Crawford and Ruth Landry, and a brother, Delmar VeVerka.

A memorial in her name has been established for the American Cancer Society or Grinnell Regional Hospice.
