RUTH L. MITHELMAN

Ruth L. Mithelman, 90, of Grinnell died Monday, Nov. 15, at St. Francis Manor.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 19, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kathryn Roys, pastor of the church, officiating. Organist will be Cheryl Irland. Casket bearers will be the Rev. Jack. L. Mithelman, Jerry Holcomb Jr., Kevin and Karl Lindblom, Lee Garrett and Christian Mithelman. Interment will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Friends may call Thursday at Smith Funeral Home beginning at 12 noon with family members present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.

She was born Feb. 17, 1920, in Grinnell, the daughter of Charles and Mary Henry Bryan. She attended Grinnell schools, graduating with the class of 1939 from Grinnell High School.

She was united in marriage with LeRoy J. Mithelman on March 1, 1941, in Grinnell. They resided in Grinnell and were partners in Mithelman Construction company. She was a homemaker who also worked as a secretary for Ramsey Insurance Agency and later for over 20 years for Hanssen Photography.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and its Mary/Martha Circle; a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Grinnell Band Boosters and the former St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by one daughter, Janet L. Holcomb of Grinnell; one son, the Rev. Jack Mithelman of Des Moines; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and one sister, Clara Halstead of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Janie Rupe and Judith Lindblom; four sisters, Bessie Wright, Sally Todd, Hazel Brim and Margaret Osborn; and five brothers, Albert, Alvin, Bob, Roy and Ray Bryan.
