Grinnell Herald; April 24, 1906

MRS. CAROLINE F. (KINGDON) BAHRENFUSE

Caroline F. Kingdon was born at Byron Center, N.Y., on July 23, 1865 and died at her home two and a half miles east of this city on April 21, 1906.

The deceased came with her parents to Grinnell in 1871 and in 1886 was married here to Henry Bahrenfuse. To this union were born five children one of whom died in infancy while the others, two sons and two daughters, survive her. In addition to the bereaved husband and family she leaves to mourn her loss her mother, Mrs. S.L. Kingdon, two brothers, C.H. Kingdon and F.L. Kingdon and a sister, Mrs. J.C. Goodrich, all of this city.

Mrs. Bahrenfuse was a Christian woman of pure character and sweet personality. She joined the Protestant Episcopal church in 1883 and lived a life of devotion to her family for whom she gave her strength and her thoughts that they might have the blessings which only a mother's love can bring. This blessing which she has so abundantly left them will be for them always a sweet memory and an influence for good.

Funeral services were held at the late residence yesterday afternoon at half past two conducted by the Rev. E.M. Vittum. A quartette consisting of Miss Stella Bartlett, Mrs. A.B. Mack, Dr. O.F. Parish and A.C. Harriman furnished music and interment was made in Hazelwood cemetery.

The large number from both town and country who gathered for the services testified eloquently to the love and respect in which the deceased was held by her large number of friends in this vicinity.
