CHARLES MOORE

Services for Charles Moore of Barnes City were conducted by the Rev. Douglas Smiley at the Steffy Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 5. Mrs. William Landstrum was the organist at the rites.

Casket bearers were Lyle Davis, Gary Moore, Delmar Davis, John Moore, Edward Moore and Raymond Moore. Burial was in the *Sheeley Cemetery.

Mr. Moore, 69, died Saturday, May 1, in a Montezuma nursing home.

The son of John and Mae Belle Moore, he was born in Mahaska County on March 2, 1902. He attended rural school and on July 13, 1925, he married the former Della Smith. To this union ten children were born. They farmed in Mahaska and Poweshiek counties and Mr. Moore also worked on a section crew for the Rock Island Railroad. He retired several years ago and they moved to their presesnt home in Barnes City. He was a member of the Barnes City Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife; six daughters, La Verna Nelson of Oskaloosa, Joyce Eakins of Montezuma, Viola Lamb of Barnes City, Colleen DeHoedt of Barnes City, June DenHartog, Blakesburg; Carolyn Thompson of Libertyville; four sons, Marvin of Barnes City, Donald of Montezuma, Harold of Lahaina, Hawaii, and James of La Porte City; 24 grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer Moore of New Sharon; and a sister, Elsie Davis of New Sharon.
