MARLENE A. MCKEE, 70

Marlene Anne McKee, 70, of Montezuma, died Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Her funeral service was Saturday, July 9, at Watts Funeral Home, Montezuma, with the Rev. Joann Hary of the United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was at Pleasant Township Cemetery, Ewart. Watts Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Casket bearers were Ron Taylor, Glenda Probst, Mark Ewing, Bill Moore, Paul Jones and Don Fahlenkamp.

Honorary casket bearers were Jim and Meryll Hicks, Rae and Brigitte VanRoekel, Kevin Kudart, Judd Hansen, Eldon Snook, Marvin Ferneau, Nick Slaven, Mike Cox, Joe Current, Richard Olson and Shanel Fahlenkamp.

Marlene was born Oct. 6, 1934, at Grinnell, the daughter of William and Louise (Copeland) Ewoldt. She graduated from Montezuma High School in 1953. On April 21, 1956, she was united in marriage with Norman McKee at Nashua. To this union, two children were born, William and Patty. Marlene worked at the Montezuma Sale Barn for awhile, and, for the last several years, had done bookkeeping at the Montezuma Light Company. She was a member of the Montezuma United Methodist Church and V.F.W. Auxiliary. She thought the world of her two children and her dog, Jenny. She enjoyed taking pictures and helping other people She was a good seamstress and was known for her baking. Husband Norman died June 7, 2003. Marlene loved to dance and she recently had begun to attend dances with Mick Talbert and his brother, Russell.

Marlene is survived by her family, William and his friend, Sue Gary, of Jackson, Mich.; Patty McKee of Montezuma; her two grandsons, Mitchell and Richard McKee, both of Barnes City; and her special friend, Mick Talbert, and many good friends.

Memorials in her name may be directed to the Montezuma Volunteer Fire Department.
