RUTH M. MARING

Ruth M. Maring, 100, of Grinnell died Tuesday, June 6, at the Mayflower Health Care Center.

Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Homer Perry officiating. Organist will be Alice Renaud, and vocalist will be Bill Surbrug. Pallbearers will be Larry Ashing, Steve Hardeman, Andy and Jim Heishman, Chuck Maring and Gary Wilson. Burial will be in Pleasant Township Cemetery, Ewart.

The daughter of J.S. and Maude Porter Copeland, she was born Feb. 3, 1900, near Ewart. She attended rural school.

She was married to Charles E. Maring in 1921. They lived in Kansas for several years, then moved to a farm north of Grinnell. Mrs. Maring had been a resident of the Mayflower Health Care Center since 1994.

Surviving are one son, Gary of Grinnell; one daughter, Barbara McKinnon of Lakewood, Wash.; two sisters, Florence Neff of Nashville, Tenn., and Dorothy Merritt of Lakeland, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Charles Jr. and Robert; one sister, Louise Ewoldt; one brother, John Sheldon Copeland; and one great-granddaughter.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mayflower Human Needs Endowment Fund.
