NORMAN W. MCKEE, 73

Norman W. McKee, 73, of Montezuma, died Saturday morning, June 7, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

His funeral service was Monday, June 9, at Watts Funeral Home, Montezuma, with the Rev. H. Burr Bryant of the Montezuma United Methodist Church officiating. Interment followed at Pleasant Township Cemetery in Ewart.

Casket bearers were Ron Taylor, Bill Moore, Eldon Snook, Mark Ewing, Judd Hansen and Rae Van Roekel.

Honorary casket bearers were Jim Hicks, John Shultz, Bill Gregory, Jerry Minner, Jim Cranston, Ronald Arvidson, John Van Buren and Don Fehlenkamp.

Norm was born on Aug. 16, 1929, at Ottumwa, the son of Walter and Margaret (Hadley) McKee. He graduated from Montezuma High School in 1947. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On April 21, 1956, he was united in marriage with Marlene Ewoldt at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. To this union, a son and daughter were born. They made their home in Montezuma. Norman worked for 41-1/2 years for the State D.O.T. Maintenance Department, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Blakeley-Stevens American Legion Post No. 169 and the V.F.W. Post No. 8876, both of Montezuma. He enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, planting flowers and was an avid Cubs fan.

Those left to honor Norman's memory are his wife of 47 years, Marlene; a son, William McKee of Jackson, Mich.; a daughter, Patricia McKee, of Montezuma; two grandsons, Richard James McKee of Barnes City and Mitchell Aaron Mckee of Mechanicsville and several friends.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Montezuma Volunteer Fire Department.
