WILLIAM H. EWOLDT DIES AT HOSPITAL

William H. Ewoldt, 72, of Rte. 2, Montezuma, died Wednesday morning at Grinnell General Hospital following a lengthy illness.

The son of William H. and Carolina Missfeldt Ewoldt, Mr. Ewoldt was born Nov. 12, 1898, in Heikendorf-By-Kiel, Germany. He came to Grinnell in 1914 and stayed with his uncle, Herman Ewoldt. He later worked for the Vogts in the Grinnell area.

On Dec. 18, 1926, he married Louise J. Copeland in Montezuma. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Norman (Marlene) McKee of Montezuma.

Mr. and Mrs. Ewoldt farmed near Ewart for 20 years before moving to their home farm north of Montezuma.

Mr. Ewoldt was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith.

Survivors include his wife, Louise; his daughter, Marlene; two grandchildren--William R. McKee and Patricia Anne McKee of Montezuma; and two sisters--Mrs. Dora Schroeder of Heikendorf-By-Kiel, Germany, and Mrs. John (Katie) Nagel of Hamburg, Germany.

Mr. Ewoldt was preceded in death by his parents and 4 sisters.

Funeral services for William Ewoldt will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 23, at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Leland W. Mann of the Mayflower Home officiating.

Music will be provided by David Gerard, organist, and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Gerard, vocalists.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Osborn, Raymond Peters, Donald Souter, Donald Vogt, Kenneth Vogt, and Allen Wheeler.

Burial will be made in Pleasant Township Cemetery at Ewart.

Should friends desire, memorials in Mr. Ewoldt's name may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Mrs. Wayne Reams, Grinnell.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home.
