MINERVA E. JOHNSON

Minerva E. Johnson, 85, of Grinnell died Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Triumph Hospital Northwest in Houston, Texas.

Funeral Services for Minerva Johnson will be held at 10:30 a.m . on Tuesday, March 2, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell, with the Rev. Len Eberhart, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Organist will be Margaret Wheeler. Pallbearers will be Steven Audas, Rich Humphrey, Aaron Johnson, Don, Gary and Larry Milburn and Bryan Sharer. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

The daughter of William and Flora Carpenter Stimson, she was born Oct. 18, 1917 in Malcom. She attended school in Malcom and graduated from Montezuma High School, then attended Thompson Beauty School in Des Moines.

She married Clifford R. Johnson on April 30, 1941, in Lancaster, Mo., and the couple made their home in Grinnell.

She was employed as a beautician for several years, then worked in the school lunch program at Grinnell Senior High School and Bailey Park Elementary School.

Survivors include two children, Carol Johnson of Kingwood, Texas, and Gerald Johnson of Trophy Club, Texas, and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and two sisters.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
