RAYMOND EHRET, 90

Raymond King Ehret, 90, died Monday, April 22, at his home east of Montezuma of a stroke.

A funeral was Thursday, April 25, at Watts Funeral Home, with the Rev. Burr Bryant officiating. Casket bearers were Larry Ehret, Darrin Ehret, Rande Henkle, Alan Van Arkel, Craig Van Arkel and David Van Arkel. Honorary bearers were Alva Van Blaricom, Robert Traxler, James Van Arkel, William Henkle, Boyd Sparks, Don Souter, Eugene Merck and Loel Ferguson. Interment was in Jackson Township Cemetery. Memorials are to Montezuma Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance.

Mr. Ehret was born Feb. 6, 1912, the son of Curtis and Martha (DeGaston) Ehret, at their home near Deep River. He graduated from Deep River High School in 1929 and farmed with his father and brother, Harold, near Deep River.

On Feb. 18, 1939, he married Mildred Henkle of Montezuma. He worked with his wife's brothers, William Henkle and Roger Henkle, and also farmed. He belonged to Deep River Methodist Church, then Montezuma United Methodist Church. He had many years of perfect Sunday School attendance and served as a church usher and greeter for 20 years. He also was a 4-H club leader.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred Ehret; two sons, Wayne (& Juanita) Ehret of Sac City and Marvin (& Teresa) Ehret of Montezuma; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother Harold and an infant daughter, Sandra J. Ehret.
