Jo Anne Moore died Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at her home in Barnes City, Iowa. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 13, 2008, at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma, Iowa. Internment will be immediately following the service at Sheeley [Sheley] Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, September 12, 2008, at 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home.
Jo Anne Moore, daughter of Likel and Lucille (Huit) Hartman, was born on August 8, 1950, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. On June 28, 1968, Jo Anne Hartman was united in marriage to James Carroll Moore, Senior, at the Barnes City Christian Church. In 1972, following a house fire, Jo Anne and James fostered his nieces Debbie (Lamb) McQuilkin, Donna Lamb and Christy (Lamb) Lennie, raising them as their own.
Jo Anne attended Indian Hills Community College, located in Ottumwa, Iowa, where she attained both Nurse Aide and Medication Aide Certifications. Jo Anne was dedicated to caring for others and throughout her career, she worked at the Montezuma Nursing and Rehabilitation Center (20 years) and the Diamond Life Care Facility (12 years). Most recently Jo Anne worked for various hospitals located in Des Moines, Iowa. She enjoyed embroidering, gardening, her grandchildren and spending time with her husband.
Her memory is honored by a daughter, Carol Moore of Barnes City, Iowa; a son John Moore of Barnes City, Iowa; a brother, Lloyd Hartman of Des Moines, Iowa; three sisters, Barbara (Gene) Davis of Barnes City, Iowa, Linda (Danny) Beason of Des Moines, Iowa and Penny Hartman of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and three nieces, Donna Lamb of Rhodes, Iowa, Christy (Kevin) Lennie of Grinnell, Iowa and Debbie (David) McQuilkin of LaPorte City, IA as well as eight grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Likel and Lucille Hartman; her husband James Carroll Moore, Senior; two sons, James Moore Junior and Scotty Moore; a daughter, Mary Anne Moore; and a brother, Likel Dickerson of Des Moines, Iowa.
