DAVID ROWLAND
David Rowland was born in Washington county, Maryland, March 18, 1839, and passed away at his home, 603 Broad street, Monday at 10:40 p.m. aged 80 years, 3 months and 12 days.
Mr. Rowland removed from Hagerstown, Maryland, in 1872 and settled on a farm three miles north of Victor. Here he raised his family and was held in high esteem in the community. He was preceded by his wife nineteen years. He is survived by nine children. They are Melvin T. and Nellie of Nampa, Idaho, Alva of Corvallis, Ore., Mrs. Henry Grant, Mrs. A.W. Manatt, of Brooklyn, Mrs. Lewis Clouse and Mrs. G.H. Doughty of Des Moines, Mrs. Roscoe Lewis and Mrs. Frank McDowell of Grinnell with whom he spent the declining years of his life. Mr. Rowland's habits were exemplary. He was temperate in all things. He was a kind neighbor, a good father and a model citizen, and in the loss of Mr. Rowland humanity lost a good friend. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church at Victor at 2:30 Wendesday. Interment in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at that place.
