DIES OF INJURIES RECEIVED FROM KICK OF HORSE
Harry Burkes, young married farmer living south of Montezuma, died Sunday as a result of injuries received when he was kicked in the face by a horse a few days ago. He and Mrs. Burkes were attempting to get the horses into the barn when the accident occurred. He is survived by his wife and two year old daughter. The family has been living on the Sheeley farm.
Mr. Burkes sustained a skull fracture and serious injuries around the forehead. A long gash extended from the right eyebrow completely across the left eyebrow. Tissues were bruised around the right eye and the right eyeball was injured.
After the accident Mrs. Burkes got her husband into the car and took him to the hospital. Everything possible was done to save him, but to no avail.
