MRS. VINA FOWLER FUNERAL SERVICE HELD AT GRINNELL

Funeral services for Mrs. Vina E. Fowler, sister of the late E.A. Allbee, who died Saturday at Grinnell, were held Monday at the Methodist church in Grinnell and later at Memorial Park cemetery in Cedar Rapids where burial was beside her husband and daughter, Ruth. The burial service was in charge of her nephew-in-law, the Rev. Bernard Kemper, pastor of the Methodist church at *New Albin, Ia.

Relatives from Muscatine and vicinity who attended the service at Grinnell were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Eis of Sweetland and Mrs. Margaret Brown of this city. Others who went from here to attend the service in Cedar Rapids were Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Allbee, Mrs. G. Allbee, Miss Carol Brown and Mrs. L.D. McHarg.

Mrs. Fowler was a daughter of Gustavus and Melvina E. Allbee, pioneers of Muscatine county. She was born in a log cabin on the "old stage road" between Muscatine and Davenport about two miles east of Pleasant Prairie at the Allbee homestead. At the age of 18 she was married to J. William Fowler and they went to Poweshiek county where they settled on a farm. Later Mr. Fowler built a creamery in Grinnell and they made their home there for many years. In 1934 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. The following year, Mr. Fowler was struck and instantly killed by an automobile in Riverside, Calif., where they were visiting a daughter.

Since then Mrs. Fowler has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Eunice Otcheck. Survivng are a brother, Leslie Allbee of Marshalltown; two daughters, Mrs. Theda Jordan of Riverside, Calif., and Mrs. Eunice Otcheck of Grinnell; two sons, W.L. Fowler of Cedar Rapaids and H.L. Fowler of Winterset; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
