DORIS M. BRODERS

Doris M. Broders, 80, of Grinnell died of emphysema Sunday, June 17, at the Mayflower Health Care Center.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Pianist was Betty Ann Battey, and vocalists were Sam and Vickie Reaves.

Casket bearers were Chris and Lanny Broders, Larry and Robert Kline, Robert Lapsley, James and Todd Parker, Mick Lathrum and Dustin Smith. Honorary bearers were Gene and Shirley Broders, Wayne and Leona Gropper, Don and Darlene Hull, and Wes and Helen Meyer. Burial was in Sheridan Cemetery.

She was born Jan.23, 1921, in Des Moines to Frank "Duke" and Hazel Marvin Kroehnke. She was raised in Keystone and Malcom and was a graduate of Malcom High School.

She was married to Warren J. Broders Feb. 20, 1941, in Nashua. They farmed in Sheridan township near Grinnell. In 1958, they moved to Grinnell where she worked for Harrison's Variety Store, Cunningham Drug and Cargill Seed Corn Co.

Surviving are one son, Lanny of Lake Forest, Calif.; three daughters, Peggy Lapsely of Dallas, Texas, Barbara Kline of Grinnell and Marcia Parker of Temecula, Calif.; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and one half-sister, Dorothy Ellis of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
