WILLIAM HATFIELD

William Dean Hatfield, 34, of Baxter died of a stroke Friday, Feb. 2, in Mill Valley, Calif.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday morning at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton, with the Rev. David Presher of the Community Heights Alliance Church officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery, Exline.

The son of Murl and Marjorie Hatfield, he was born Sept. 16, 1955, in Newton, where he lived most of his life. He had moved to Baxter three years ago.

He was married to Debra McGilvrey Aug. 9, 1975, in Grinnell.

Mr. Hatfield was co-owner of B & D Auto in Baxter.

He is survived by his wife, Debra; four daughters, Ara, Lanna, Dawn and Misty; his parents; two brothers, Rick of Mill Valley and Donald of Los Angeles; one sister, Barbara Benedict of Ames; and his grandmother Lavivian Hatfield of Lincoln, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Lettie Berry, and his paternal grandfather, Jasper A. Hatfield.
