JULIA SLACK SERVICES HELD WEDNESDAY

Funeral rites for Miss Julia Slack were conducted by the Rev. Leo Wilson at the Steffy Funeral Home on Wednesday afternoon, April 15. Music was provided by organist Miss Alice Underwood.

Casket bearers were Warren Fisch, Arthur Merck, Raymond Merck, Rex Rose, Eugene Merck and Elmer Burggraaf. Interment was at Golden Rod Cemetery, Deep River.

Miss Slack, 77, died Sunday, April 12, at the Keokuk County Hospital, Sigourney.

The daughter of P.H. and Luetta Henning Slack, she was born on Nov. 15, 1892.

She lived her entire life on the Slack homestead southeast of Deep River. She attended rural school near her home and graduated from Deep River High School with the Class of 1910.

Miss Slack helped care for her parents and her sister. She had been in failing health for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Harry.

She is survived by her sister, Bessie; her brother, Fred, of Millersburg; one niece; one grandniece; three great-grandnieces; and two great-grandnephews.
