SERVICES FOR HARRY SLACK, WORLD WAR I VETERAN

Harry Filmore Slack, 79, of Deep River, died March 20 at the Goeke Nursing Home in Montezuma where he had been for the past four years.

Born April 28, 1888 at Deep River, he was the son of Henry and Lusetta Henning Slack. He attended a business college in Cedar Rapids and has lived his entire life in the Deep River area, where he was engaged in farming.

He married Mary Koch February 11, 1931, who preceded him in death a few years ago.

He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Deep River American Legion Post 296 and the Thornburg Methodist church.

Surviving are two sisters, Julia Slack and Bessie Slack of Deep River; a brother, Fred Slack of Millersburg and a niece, Mrs. Wilbur Moore of Deep River.

Services were held March 22 at Harden funeral chapel, with the Rev. Herbert Foxworthy officiating and burial in McFarlin cemetery. American Legion Post 296 of Deep River conducted graveside military rites, and a memorial American flag was presented to the Slack family by the United States government.
