FUNERAL OF JOHN MORGAN HELD TODAY

John David Morgan, son of Milo and Susannah G. Robertson Morgan, was born in Lincoln township, Poweshiek county, March 13, 1860, and died February 10, 1925, at Grinnell at his home on South East street, age 64 years, 10 months, and 27 days. He was the third of a family of ten children. One brother, W. Garrett preceded him in death on September 8, 1888 at Madrid, Nebraska. The others are: A.J. Morgan of Des Moines, Mrs. Eleanor Champlin of Newton, Horace W. of Nevada, Mary J. Buskirk of Wabash, Nebraska, Margaret F. Tish of Grinnell, Minnie A. Reavis of St. James, Missouri, Charles H. of Swan, Iowa, and Belle S. Buskirk of Louisville, Nebraska. All were present this morning except Mrs. Reavis.

Mr. Morgan received his education in the rural schools and later attended the academy at Iowa City for a short time. After his mother's death in 1911 he and his father remained in the old home on South Broad street until 1917 when they moved to the S.A. Tish home where he resided until the time of his death. Mr. Morgan is one of Grinnell's old and familiar citizens. He was the first child born in Lincoln township and during all the years has been at home in or near Grinnell.

Funeral services were conducted from the S.A. Tish home this morning at 10:30 o'clock by Rev. C.A. Carman. Burial was in Hazelwood. Bearers were: J.S. Copeland, Ed Thompson, Norman Pilgrim, James Reid, Will Rutherford, and George Pearce.

Others in addition to his brothers and sisters who attended from out of town were: Miss Hazel Tish, Mrs. C.A. Burch, Miss Cora Morgan, Mr. and Mrs. R.G. Murphy and son, all of Des Moines, Mrs. Charles Graham of Gibson, Mrs. J.A. Andrews of Barnes City, Mrs. J.A. Wert of Newton, Mrs. Ada Russell of Newton and Ernest Jacobs of Ft. Des Moines.
