OBITUARY

MILTON E. BLACK

Milton E. Black, one of nine children born to O.W. and Eugenie Brown Black, was born near Grinnell on May 15th, 1868 and died at Tucson, Ariz., Sunday morning, Sept. 27th, 1959, at 91 years of age.

On March 7th, 1894, he was united in marriage with Rilla *Sheey, who died July 3rd, 1909. On June 14th, 1911, he was married to Olive C. Dale. Two children were born into this family.

During his active life, he was a school teacher, farmer, banker and insurance agent in Grinnell, Mitchellville, and Indianola. He retired from business in 1940, in Indianola. In 1953, he moved to Shawnee, Okla., and three years later to Tucson, where the Blacks have made their home until his death.

Mr. Black was united with the Methodist church in 1887 and had been an active member all of his life.

Survivors include is wife, his two children, Paul M. Black of Arlington Heights, Ill., and Josephine Robinson Myers of Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, Frank W. Black of Grinnell and E.A. Black of Los Angeles, Calif.; three sisters, Emma Quaintance of Walla Walla, Wash., Mrs. Grace Dale of Grinnell, and Mrs. Belle Jacobs of Grinnell; and two grandchildren, John and Paul Robinson of Tucson, Ariz.

Funeral services were held Sept. 30th at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Mr. G.S. Bruland of the Grinnell Methodist church officiating, assisted by Dr. A.D. Steffenson of the Muscatine Methodist church.
