MR. TJELMELAND SERVICES HELD

Tilmer K. Tjelmeland, 61 of Brooklyn died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon in the Hartwick Store, Hartwick, of an apparent heart attack.

The son of Halvor and Belle Sorem Tjelmeland, he was born Aug. 11, 1912, in Hardin County. On Dec. 5, 1934, in McCallsburg, Iowa, he was married to Minnie Borton. Following their marriage, they lived in Roland, Zearing, State Center, and Ely before moving to Holiday Lake, Brooklyn, seven years ago. Mr. Tjelmeland was state manager for Texas Refinery for 14 years and operated T & M Sales in Brooklyn and Hartwick Sales Co. in Hartwick.

Mr. Tjelmeland was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Ely, the I.O.O.F. Lodge in Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Kiwanis Club, the Eagles Lodge in Cedar Rapids, the Turner Club in Keystone, the Farm Bureau, and the Brooklyn Commercial Club.

He is survived by his wife Minnie; three sons, Thomas of Ely, Andrew of Cedar Rapids, and Allen of Ely; two daughters, Mrs. Bennie (Irma) Henze of State Center and Kathy Tjelmeland of Iowa City; three brothers, Andrew of Roland, Ward of Story City, and Harry of Garden City; three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Osmundson of Story City, Mrs. Violet Egeland of Story City, and Mrs. Berdella Sampson of Radcliffe; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Funeral services for Mr. Tjelmeland were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, with the Rev. Wally Rasmussen and the Rev. Perry Heller officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Memorial Cemetery, Marshalltown. The Nevenhoven Funeral Home of Brooklyn was in charge of arrangements.
