RITES WEDNESDAY FOR GLENN WALKER

Glenn Walker, 81, of 603 8th Ave., died Sunday evening at the Lone Elm Rest Home following failing health the past few years.

The son of Richard Samuel and Dorothy Baker Walker, Mr. Walker was born Aug. 12, 1888 near Newburg in Jasper County, Iowa. His father and grandfather came to Iowa by wagon from Indiana before Iowa was a state and homesteaded in Hickory Grove Township. Mr. Walker attended the rural schools near his home and began farming near Newburg and later in South Dakota. On March 22, 1919 in Grinnell, he married Margaret Board. To this marriage were born two sons--Arthur E. Walker of Chicago, Ill., and Charles W. Walker of Lompoc, Calif.

Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Walker farmed near Newburg and Grinnell. In 1935 they moved to Grinnell to make their home and he was employed at the Midwest Metal Stamping plant in Kellogg. He had been a 50 year member of the Knights of Pythias and Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include his two sons; a grandson, Jeffrey Walker of Lompoc, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Clayton (Irene) Millard of Thermopolis, Wyo.

Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his wife on Nov. 26, 1968, and three sisters and one brother--Mrs. Mildred Frye, Mrs. Gertrude Cox, Mrs. Hazel Wheeler, and Roy Walker.

Funeral services for Mr. Walker will be held 1:30 Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Eugene Young, minister of the United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will be made in Hazelwood Cemetery.
