ANNA MILLIGAN RITES FRIDAY

Anna O. Milligan, 88, of 915 Pearl St., Grinnell, died Wednesday morning, April 25, at St. Francis Manor.

Services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Douglas Harding, associate pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Jacob F. and Eva I. Sherman Jones, she was born north of Brooklyn on April 3, 1896. She attended rural school and in 1918 began nurse's training at Nebraska State Orthopedic Hospital at Lincoln.

She was married to T. Edward Milligan on June 23, 1918, at Newton, and the couple lived in Grinnell.

During World War II, Mrs. Milligan worked at the Maytag Co. in Newton. For 15 years she worked as a nurse at the former St. Francis Hospital here. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, the Grinnell United Methodist Church and the women's circle of the church.

She is survived by her children, Vernon L. of Marshalltown, Edward J. of Grinnell and Margaret Ann Barns of Grinnell; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1966; one daughter, Mary Lou Milligan in infancy; five brothers, Harlan, Harvey, Clifton, Frank and Lester Jones; and two sisters, Daisey Littrell and Dorothy Benson.
