EDWARD MILLIGAN DIES AT HOME HERE ON MONDAY

Edward Milligan, 76, of 915 Pearl Street, died Monday morning at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the James-Schalinske Funeral Home with the Rev. Chester E. Custer, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Interment will be in Hazelwood cemetery.

The son of Edward and Margaret Halisy Milligan, he was born on Oct. 12th, 1889, at Chicago, Ill. When he was four months old he moved with his mother to the Tama community in Iowa and lived in the Highland township area and attended the rural community schools of that area.

His mother died when he was eight years old and he then made his home with his aunt, Mrs. James Halisy. His father lived in Chicago and died 20 years ago.

On June 23rd, 1919, he was united in marriage with Anna Jones at Newton. Since their marriage they had made their home in Grinnell. For a number of years he was employed at the Knight garage and later operated his own garage on Commercial Street until failing health forced him to sell the business.

He also was employed as a mechanic at Grinnell Motor Co., Norris and Hays, and for the past few years was employed at Hueffner Oil Co.

Mr. Milligan was a member of the Grinnell Methodist church.

Survivors include his wife, Anna; a daughter, Mrs. David (Margaret) Barns of Grinnell; two sons, Edward J. of Grinnell and Vernon L. of Marshalltown; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Mary Lou, in infancy.
