Donena Mae Bru, daughter of Donald Moore and Nena (Hicks) Schmadeke was born on May 30, 1956, in Grinnell. She was a 1974 graduate of Montezuma High School. She married Ed Milligan on June 1, 1974. To this union a daughter was born, Rebecca. They later divorced. Donena was currently employed as plant manager at Sig Manufacturing for 32 years. On November 22, 1995, she was united in marriage to Robert Bru in Brooklyn. Donena was a true devoted Christian and cared more about others. She enjoyed hunting, fireworks, working on cars with Bob, yard work and gardening. She loved her John Deere lawn mower, her pets and above all her family and friends.
She will be missed by her husband of 13 years, Robert Bru of Montezuma; her parents Donald Moore of Leadhill, Arkansas, and Nena Schmadeke of Montezuma; her daughter, Rebecca (Justin) Van Dee of Deep River; three brothers, Tim (Mary) Moore of Fairfax, David (Deanna) Moore of Montezuma and Daniel (Deanna) Moore of Montezuma; three sisters, Jacque Strange of Grimes, Christy (John) Bushong of Montezuma, Caralee (Randy) Schmadeke of Moore, Oklahoma; two stepsons, Chad (Charity) Bru of Beacon and Mason Bru of Twenty Nine Palms, California; a stepdaughter, Farah (Shannon) Ingle of Bondurant and a stepbrother, Preston (Amber) Moore of Leadhill, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Austin Ingle, Adam Ingle and Henry Bru and many neices and nephews.
Donena is preceeded in death by her grandparents and her stepfather, Richard.

Donena Bru, 52 of Montezuma passed away November 21, 2008 at the Comfort House in Pella. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Visitation will begin after 12:00 P.M. on Monday, November 24, 2008 at the funeral home with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 Monday evening. Interment will be at the Sheeley [Sheley] Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brain Tumor Foundation. Friends may give condolences or sign the online guestbook at hollandcoblefuneralhome.com. Holland-Coble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
