A.F. EASTMAN

It was with regret that Grinnell citizens learned of the death Sunday evening, August 18, of Ackley F. Eastman at his home in south Grinnell. He had been in poor health a number of years, but had been confined to the house but a few weeks. Mr. Eastman was born in Springfield, N.H., November 1st, 1846. He came to Grinnell in 1867 and had resided here steadily since, engaging in the occupation of a harness maker. In 1870 he was married to Miss Lillie Tabor of Malcom, Iowa. She died in 1883, leaving one son, George P. In 1886 he married Mrs. Gusty Trumbull who died in 1892. In 1899 he was married to Miss Lavina Smith. There survive him a wife, son, and sister to mourn the loss of a loving husband, father and brother. Mr. Eastman was a man of quiet exterior, a warm friend, honorable in business transactions and a man universally esteemed. The funeral will be held at the Episcopal church this afternoon conducted by Prof. L.F. Parker.
