OBITUARY

MRS. NEVA EASTMAN

Neva Rebecca Pilgrim, only daughter of Croft Pilgrim and Susan Swank Pilgrim was born May 15, 1872 in Stark County, Ill. She died at the Community hospital in Lancaster, Calif., Monday morning, Feb. 12, after a lingering illness, at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 6 days.

She came with her parents and six brothers to Grinnell, when she was six years old. Her early life was spent in Grinnell and vicinity.

Sept. 21, 1893, she was united in marriage with George Eastman of this community. He was a harnessmaker, a profession he followed all his life. In 1913 they moved to California. Mr. Eastman died Jan. 7, 1927.

Mrs. Eastman took a keen interest in her community and was a member of the Community Methodist church, the Rebekah lodge and was a Past Noble Grand of the latter organization at Lancaster.

Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 2:30 o'clock in Lancaster with her pastor, Rev. Harold Loy officiating, assisted by Rebekah Lodge No. 196.

Mrs. Eastman is survived by her brother, Norman O. Pilgrim of this city and by several nieces and nephews. Five brothers preceded her in death.

Many friends and relatives attended the services which were held here Friday afternoon, Mar. 3, with Rev. C.D. Loose in charge. The body was laid to rest in Hazelwood, beside her husband.
