FRED A. PARKER RITES SATURDAY
Funeral services for Fred A. Parker, 52, who died early Thursday morning in a Waterloo hospital following an extended illness, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the *James-Schalinske Funeral Home.
Elder Dennis Taylor officiated at the services, and organist was Kathleen Heffner. Vocalists were Mr. and Mrs. Emil Gerard, and pallbearers included Kenneth French, Cecil Trout, Arthur Ewing, Robert Rule, Frederick Antonson and Keith Fangman.
The son of Harl and Johannah Vos Parker, Mr. Parker was born Dec. 14, 1916, near Pella. He received his education in the rural schools south of Kellogg.
On Aug. 13, 1945, he was married to Norma V. Gerard. Following their marriage, they lived in Grinnell for a short time before moving to Waterloo, where he was employed by the Iowa Public Service Company for 23 years. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Waterloo, and was also a member of the Moose Lodge.
Mr. Parker is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Merle (Marla) Killinger of Brooklyn; three grandsons, Craig, Kevin and Curtis; a sister, Hazel Parker of Newton; and a brother, Murray of Garland, Tex.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma, in 1968; a brother, Roy; and three sisters, Ruth, Freda and Nellie.
