MRS. MARGARET JACOB DIES AT EWART

Mrs. Margaret J. Jacob died at the home of her sister, Mrs. James Donnan, Wednesday morning, May 13, 1925. She had been gradually growing weaker for several months, but the end came suddenly without a moment's warning. The following obituary was read at her funeral:

Margaret Jane Jacob, in honor of whose memory we are met here this afternoon was born at Ashland, Ohio, May 30, 1853. Her age therefore, when she passed away, May 13, 1925, was 71 years, 11 months and 13 days. She was the daughter of Alexander and Jane Cummings.

When but a child, she came with her parents to Iowa and the rest of her life has been spent in the neighborhood of Ewart. Here she grew to womanhood, and here she was married, July 2, 1874, at the age of 21, to Mr. Moses Miller Jacob. But her married life was of short duration. Five months later, her husband died, and she was left to face the future alone.

All her later life she and her brother George made their home together, until his death. Shortly after George's death, she came to Ewart where she made her home till increasing infirmity made removal necessary. She was then received into the home of her sister, Mrs. James Donnan, where she was tenderly and faithfully cared for till the end came, Wednesday morning, May 13, 1925.

She leaves to mourn her loss one son, Moses Miller Jacob; three grandchildren, Mrs. Irma May Jeffrey, Mrs. Jessie Margaret Gerard, and Frieda Mary Jacob; one great-grandchild, Doris May Jeffrey; one brother, William W. Cummings, and one sister, Mrs. Ella D. Donnan.

In early life, she became a member of the Presbyterian church of Malcom, Iowa, and at the time of her death she was still a member of that church.

We shall miss her. But she has gone to join the great host of those who have gone on before. The pioneers are going fast. May the Lord help those of us that remain to worthily fill their places.

The funeral was held in the Ewart United Presbyterian church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. R.E. Lackey. The respect in which she was held in the community was evidenced by the very large attendance at the funeral. The church was filled to capacity. The burial was in the Ewart cemetery.
