OBITUARY

MOSE JACOB

Moses Miller Jacob, son of Moses and Margaret Jacob, was born in Poweshiek county, near Ewart March 23, 1875, and passed away at his home in Barnes City, Sept. 19, 1944, at 6 p.m., having reached the age of 69 years, five months and 26 days. On Jan. 23, 1895 he was married to Gertrude Wasson and to this union three daughters were born: Irma, Mrs. Thomas Jeffrey of near Grinnell, Jessie, Mrs. Harold Gerard of Grinnell, and Freda, Mrs. Ernest Opdahl of Waterloo. There are six grandchildren, Doris Jeffrey, Norma, Robert and Barbara Gerard and Jack and Shirley Opdahl. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. He was a truly loving husband and father and a very considerate friend and neighbor, he has been been in failing health for several years yet kept up his interest in everything and everyone around him, and during all his illness his faithful wife remained always at his side doing what she could to ease his suffering. She managed to keep up his spirits while in the presence of her husband, who rested a bit easier when she was with him.

He found much comfort in the word of God and often told his family he was ready to go.

Mose, as so many called him, has always lived near Grinnell, Ewart and Barnes City and will be greatly missed in his home, by his family and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted from the Steffy Funeral Home in Montezuma Friday afternoon with Rev. Forest Hebron of Ladora in charge. Mrs. C.W. Gorsuch and Mrs. C.R. Beyers, accompanied by Alice Underwood, sang "Ivory Palaces" and "In the Garden."

Pallbearers were Frank Reed, Joe Likens, Jay Dalbey, Homer Shelby, Bert Broyles, Howard Graham.

Interment was in the cemetery in Pleasant township at Ewart.
