NELL TRUMBEL RITES TODAY

Funeral services for Nell J. Trumbel, 91, a former Grinnell resident who died Wednesday in Prairie de Sac, Wis., were held at 10 a.m. today at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home.

The Rev. Hugh A. Shiveley, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Grinnell, officiated. Organist was Mrs. Julia Pearce, and pallbearers included Donovan Evans, James Howell, Keith Howell, Paul Pedersen, Paul Thompson and Frank Brown. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Charles C. and Mary Ann Winans Jones, she was born April 23, 1881, at Durant, Iowa. Her parents moved to Grinnell during her early youth, and she received her education in the public schools here.

She was married to George S. Trumbel and the couple farmed in the Grinnell area for 18 years. For a number of years, they lived in Oskaloosa where Mr. Trumbel was employed at the Sears Farm Store. Following their retirement, they returned to Grinnell. Mr. Trumbel preceded her in death Oct. 31, 1964, and since his death she had lived in a nursing home in Black Earth, Wis. She was a member of the Baptist Church and served her church in several ways as long as her health permitted.

Survivors include her son, Gaylord Trumbel of Elk Horn, Wis.; a grandson, David G. Trumbel of Richmond, Ill.; her granddaughters, Susan and Chris; her daughter-in-law, and her nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by parents; four brothers, Benjamin, Charles, Clinton, and George; and her three sisters, Emma Tice, Hanna Hanssen, and Grace Lynch.
