CLINT JONES DIES MONDAY; PROMINENT AREA AUCTIONEER

A.C. "Clint" Jones, 77, died at his home at 423 6th avenue, Monday evening and funeral services were held this morning from the First Friends church. A prominent auctioneer in this area, Jones had conducted sales at the Grinnell Livestock Exchange for many years. When he retired in the summer of 1952, he ended an auctioneering career that had extended over 41 years.

Born Nov. 3rd, 1878, at Durant, he was the son of Charles and Mary Jones. On June 14th, 1900, he was married to Amy Broyle near Grinnell. The couple farmed in the Gilman community for years.

In 1950 they moved to Grinnell where Jones continued his auctioneering career. Although retired for the past four years, he still maintained an active interest in livestock dealing.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Glenn (Edith) Howell of Newburg; and three sons, Laird of Des Moines, Ralph of Hedrick and Alan of Fremont. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. George Trumbel of Grinnell.

The Rev. Charles O. Whitely officiated at the final services and music was furnished by Mrs. Robert Burnham and Dale Olson. Pallbearers were Max Jones, Harold Howell, Keith Howell, Clinton Howell, Robert Jones and Gary Jones.

Interment was at Hazelwood cemetery.
