RITES HELD FOR MRS. KAISAND

Florence May Kaisand, 77, the wife of Charlie P. Kaisand of 1516 Prairie St., died Thursday, Aug. 15, at Grinnell General Hospital.

The daughter of Benjamin W. and Dorothea Carstens Jones, she was born May 27, 1897, in Grinnell. She attended the Grinnell public schools.

On Aug. 5, 1912, she was married to Charlie P. Kaisand in Grinnell. The couple had five children: Mildred E. Kaisand of Des Moines, Mrs. Merle (Helen) Sparks of Newton, Mrs. Don (Edith) Hasselbrink of rural Grinnell, C. Kenneth Kaisand of Norfolk, Neb., and a son who died in infancy.

Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Kaisand farmed southwest of Grinnell in Jasper County. Mrs. Kaisand was a charter member of the Bethel Grange. For the past 10 years, Mr. and Mrs. Kaisand made their home in Grinnell and had recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.

Survivors include her husband; her four children; seven grandchildren, Ronald and Roger Sparks of Newton, Carolyn and Margaret Hasselbrink of Des Moines, and Susan, Cathryn and Roger Kaisand of Norfolk, Neb.; two great-grandchildren, Kelly and Michael Sparks of Newton; and one sister Mrs. Orville (Helen) Pedersen of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her infant son; her parents; three grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Hilda Bruce; and four brothers, Ernest Jones, Carl Jones, Harold Jones and Clifford Jones.

Funeral services for Mrs. Kaisand were held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Hugh A. Shiveley, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Grinnell, officiating. Organist was Edward H. Bohstedt, and pallbearers were Lee Bruce, Alfred E. Jones, Harold L. Jones, John Krumm, Paul Pedersen and Dick Stoakes.

Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.
