CARL PAXSON RITES TUESDAY

Carl E. Paxson, 70, of 503 High St., died suddenly Saturday morning, Aug. 26, at his home.

The son of Arthur and Anna Horn Paxson, he was born Sept. 27, 1901, in Solon, Iowa. He attended the schools in Solon and Tipton. On April 11, 1932, he was married to Mildred Jane Kingsland in Grinnell. The couple had one son, Lauren A. Paxson of Marshalltown, who survives.

Mr. Paxson had been a grade foreman for the Horrabin Construction Company, and during World War II he worked on the Alcan Highway as foreman. In later years, he was associated with Grinnell Beverage Company, B.P.O. Elks, and Russ' Tavern. He was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church and the Isaac Walton League.

Survivors include his wife Mildred; his son Lauren; two grandchildren, Alan A. and Lori Ann Paxson, both of Marshalltown; and one sister, Mrs. Grace P. Ross of Monte Bello, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mrs. Marie Dice.

Funeral services for Carl Paxson will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home. Should friends desire, a memorial fund has been established for Mr. Paxson's grandchildren.
