RITES HELD FOR MR. KINGSLAND

George Kingsland, 79 of Harvey, Ill., a native of Malcom, died Friday, May 27.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, May 31, at Brown's Funeral Home, with the Rev. Clifford Baumann officiating.

The son of Jesse and Grace Shifflett Kingsland, he was born Jan. 20, 1904, at Malcom. He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1922 and from De Paul University in Chicago in 1931, receiving his master's degree in 1938.

He married June Potter on Nov. 24, 1932. Mr. Kingsland was an educator for 33 years, serving for 14 years as principal of District 141, Riverdale, Ill., and as superintendent of District 151 for 19 years. He was a past exalted ruler of Elks Lodge No. 1242 and a member of the Elks Lodge No. 2335, serving in various offices. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, June; two children, Donald Kingsland of Harvey, Ill., and Mary Ann Moore of Lilburn, Ga.; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one sister, Mildred Kingsland Paxson of Grinnell.
