RITES HELD FOR MR. LAGRANGE

Frank A. LaGrange, 68, of 222 Broad St., Grinnell, died of an apparent heart attack Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 26, at Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton. He and his wife were en route to Texas to spend the winter when he became ill on Interstate-80.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Daniel I. Ogata, pastor of the Grinnell First United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner. Pallbearers were Wilson R. Beaty, Joe Buffum, Paul Heinle, Larry O. Hines, William Swanson and Roger Burns.

Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The son of Nathan and Nellie McDonald LaGrange, he was born April 29, 1911, at Rock Island, Ill. He attended schools at Bettendorf and Davenport, moving to Grinnell at the age of 18.

On Aug. 3, 1933, he was married to Beatrice Playle at Montezuma. The couple had four children.

Mr. LaGrange was an employee of the Maytag Company at Newton for 29 years. He was an inspector at the die cast foundry before retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Grinnell Eagles traveling bowling team, Van's Appliance bowling team, and the Iowa Golden Hawks camping club.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice; his children Mrs. Alvan (Donna) Brown of Lodi, Ohio, Mrs. Wayne (Janet) Hasselbrink of Grinnell, Frank A. LaGrange Jr. of Grinnell and Richard F. LaGrange of Parker City, Ind.; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Raymond LaGrange of LeClaire and Wesley LaGrange of Hagerman, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Judd and Thomas; and two half-brothers Dwight and Adell LaGrange.
