FUNERAL SERVICES HERE FRIDAY FOR JUDD LAGRANGE

Judd LaGrange, 37, of Grinnell, died here Tuesday as the result of a gunshot wound. Authorities said the wound was apparently self-inflicted.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Chester E. Custer, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Organ music will be provided by Mr. Kathleen Heffner.

Pallbearers will be Ernest Jones, Marvin Kolars, Bert Matteson, Lyle Oswood, Fred Stanley, and Carmen Wilson. Veterans graveside rites will be conducted by Focht-Tennant Post No. 53 of the Grinnell American Legion. Burial will be in Hazelwood cemetery.

The son of Floyd Harold and Vera Leota Martin LaGrange, he was born in Grinnell on May 10, 1927. He attended the local schools and enlisted in the United States Navy on April 17, 1945, where he served as a carpenter's mate, third class.

Following his discharge on July 27, 1946, he returned to Grinnell where he lived most of his life, except for the last few years spent in Malcom. In recent years, he had been employed as a home improvement salesman.

Survivors include his father, Floyd; his stepmother; one son, Daniel LaGrange; two sisters, Mrs. Ernest (Coleen) Allen of Aplington, Iowa, and Mrs. Rex (Lorita) Vitera of Grinnell; a step-brother, Glen S. Oliver of Des Moines; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his mother in 1946 and one brother in infancy.
