MARJORIE LACY SERVICES HELD

Marjorie L. Lacy, 79, of 508 Park St. died at her home Monday, Jan. 9.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. James P. Russell, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Organist as Kathleen Heffner.

Pallbearers were Willard Hagen, Howard Jones, Jim Miller, Ben Mitchell, Duane Phipps and Gary Stevens. Honorary bearers were Shell Criswell, Lloyd Ellenwood, Robert Henderson, William H. Noel, and O.R. Peterson.

Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Judd and Emma Curtis LaGrange, she was born Oct. 2, 1904, in Grinnell. She attended Grinnell schools, graduating from Grinnell High School.

She was married to William F. (Jack) Lacy on May 1, 1926, in San Diego, Calif. The couple lived there for two years while Mr. Lacy was in the U.S. Navy, then returned to Grinnell.

Mrs. Lacy had worked as a secretary for the superintendent and principal at Grinnell High School and for a number of years was employed at Grinnell Federal Savings and Loan and with the Manly law firm.

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Sadler of Grinnell; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elsie King.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1977; a son, William F. (Ted) Lacy in 1983; one brother, Floyd LaGrange; and three sisters, Millie Grubb, Ruby Anderson and Addie Spears.
