HOLD RITES FOR WILLIAM LACY

William F. Lacy, 72, of 508 Park St. in Grinnell, died Sunday afternoon at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services for William Lacy were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, at the Smith Funeral Home. The Rev. Eugene McClure officiated. Music was by Mrs. Kathleen Heffner. Pallbearers were Ferry Fair, William Hagen, Frank LaGrange, James Miller, O.R. Peterson, and Bill Werneburg.

Graveside rites were conducted by Marion Gibson, commander, and Edwin Richardson, chaplain, and members of the Grinnell Veterans' Ceremonial Unit. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

He was the son of Frederick and Alice Glendenning Lacy, and was born on June 22, 1904, in Bath, Maine. He served eight years in the navy, starting in 1918, and was married to Marjorie L. LaGrange in San Diego, Calif., on May 10, 1926. The couple moved to Grinnell shortly thereafter to make their home.

He was employed by Swift and Co., the Grinnell Washing Machine Co., and spent 25 years with the Maytag Company before retiring in 1966. He was a member of the Maytag Twenty-five Year Club.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; his children, William F. Lacy of rural Grinnell, and Mrs. Beverly Sadler of Grinnell; seven grandchildren, Ronald, Randall, Gary and Michelle Lacy, all of Grinnell, William Lacy of Newton, Mrs. Christine Ellis and Mrs. Beth McGee of Grinnell; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Helen Driscoll of Brunswick, Maine.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Edwin, George, and Frederick Lacy.
