GLENN G. BEAM

Glenn G. Beam was born at Mt. Pulaski, Ill., on October 24th, 1881, and died at the University Hospital at Iowa City on Saturday morning, May 5, 1923, at the age of 41 years, 6 months, 11 days.

He had suffered intensely with cancer for several months, and as he did not improve under the care of local physicians he went to the Hospital in Iowa City, but even there, all that medical skill could do was of no avail and he passed on to his reward.

He came to Grinnell in the summer of 1915 and on March 4th, 1916, was united in marriage with Myrtle Hulbert, eldest daughter of Marion and Jennie Hulbert; and to this union were born three children, Clayton, aged 6 years, George aged 3 years and little Bettie Maxine, aged 1 year, who are left to mourn the loss of a kind, loving husband and father. His other relatives are an aunt, Mrs. E.W. Wilson, of Rolfe Iowa, and an uncle, Frank Beam, of Ames, Iowa, who were present to attend the funeral.

The family have made their home in Grinnell, where he has been employed in various capacities.

"Jack," as he was familiarly known among us, was an industrious, likeable fellow, and the members of the community as well as his fraternal brothers in the Woodman and Eagle lodges, very much regret his passing; his family and relatives have our sympthaty in this, their hour of sorrow.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, from the Friends church, with Rev. O.L. Hutchins preaching the ceremony. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.

The scripture reading was Psalms 90:1-12 and the text was Psalms 61:2. The songs that were sung were "Abide With Me," "He Knows" and "Rock of Ages."
