OBITUARY

Eli Slater Whittaker died at Minneapolis, Minn., Oct. 1, 1902, after a lingering illiness of two years. The remains were brought to Grinnell, October 3, for interment in Hazelwood cemetery. The funeral services were conducted Sunday, Oct. 3, by the Rev. E.M. Vittum, from the residence of L.W. Satchell, a brother-in-law of deceased.

Mr. Whittaker came to Grinnell from St. Louis, Missouri in 1874, was married to Miss Frances Satchell, of Grinnell, in 1878. Three children were born to them one of whom died in infancy. He is survived by his wife and two children, Miss Jessie and Master Bernard.

They resided in Grinnell until 1886, when they moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, and made that city their home until his death. Mr. Whittaker was for a number of years in the employ of Craver, Steel & Austin of Grinnell. He was a painter by trade and followed that vocation in Minneapolis. He was a kind and loving husband and father, and has many friends to mourn his death both in Grinnell and Minneapolis.
