MRS. GEORGE D. MARSH DIES IN CLAREMONT, CALIF.

Mrs. George D. Marsh died at Claremont, Calif., August 20th. She was the wife of Rev. George D. Marsh, for many years a missionary from Grinnell to Philippopolis, Bulgaria.

She was born in Massachusetts and her father was a Congregational minister, Rev. Benjamin Clark. She was a graduate of Mt. Holyoke seminary and was at one time a pupil of Mrs. George F. Magoun when she was teaching at Mt. Holyoke. She was the first single woman missionary that the woman's board sent out. She is the mother of George L. Marsh, Benjamin C. Marsh and Anna C. Marsh, all graduates of Grinnell college, and Robert Marsh who went to Grinnell college but did not graduate.

She was 89 years old last June. After her husband died in Bulgaria she came back to this country and made her home in Claremont, Calif., where her son, Ben Marsh has been a frequent visitor. Ben Marsh also visited in Grinnell recently. At two different times Mrs. Marsh lived in Grinnell, one year each period.
