MOURN JERRY MULCAHY

Funeral Services of Popular Young Man Were Held From His Home Yesterday Afternoon.

MASONS CONDUCT THE SERVICES AT THE GRAVE.

End Came After A Long Illness--Wife And Four Little Boys Survive Him.

Kind hearted, friendly, jolly Jerry Mulcahy was buried yesterday from the home at 328 Park street. He passed away at 4 o'clock Tuesday morning of Brights Disease from which he had suffered for many months. He was only thirty six years old. The life which was brought to so untimely an end contained more of incidents than falls to the lot of the average man. Left orphans at an early age in New York, Jerry and his brother were "bound out," according to the custom of those days and were separated for fifteen years. They did not meet again until both had grown to man's estate. Jerry enlisted in the navy and his brother joined the regular army.

After completing his period of enlistment Jerry came to Grinnell and was employed in Cady's store. He worked with other firms and finally became associated with Herschel Sylvester in the Poweshiek Cafe. Later for a time he was engaged in the restaurant business for himself.

He married Miss Ethel Coulson of this city and is survived by his devoted wife and four small boys, the oldest twelve years of age.

About three years ago the family moved to Rock Island, Ill., and later to Harvey. Jerry's health had been failing for some time and when they returned to Grinnell four months ago it became evident that his condition was serious. Three weeks of treatment in the Methodist hospital in Des Moines showed that nothing could be done to help him and since then the end has only been a matter of days.

Rev. W.C. Wasser conducted funeral services yesterday afternoon from the home. Pall bearers were D.A. Hopkins, Jack Foster, L.O. Wilson, Grant Ramsey, John Rehder and Harold L. Woods.

Relatives who came from a distance to attend the funeral were Mrs. C.G. Penfield of Harvey and Del Coulson of Grundy Center, brother and sister of Mrs. Mulcahy, and Dennie Mulcahy, Jerry's brother, from Camp Pike, Ark. His enlistment has only four more days to run and he expects to be discharged by telegraph. He plans to remain in Grinnell.

Jerry was of a lovable dispostion and numbered his friends by his aquaintances. Every one liked him at sight. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, I.O.O.F. and Masonic lodges. All three organizations attended the funeral and the services at the grave in Hazelwood were in accordance with the Masonic ritual.

CARD OF THANKS.

We wish to thank the Lodges and friends for their kindness and flowers during the sickness and death of our beloved husband, father and brother.
Mrs. Ethel Mulcahy
and children
and Dennie Mulcahy.
