CARROLL BONE ENJOYED FAMILY, FUNERAL OCT. 17

Carroll Bone, son of William and Flora Bone, was born Dec. 16, 1884, at Kimball, S.D., and died Oct. 13 at 78 years of age. In his youth he moved with his parents to a fram south of Deep River. He attended the rural school there.

He and Edith Hurd were united in marriage June 10, 1910, and to this union three children were born. They made their home in the Deep River community until they retired in 1948 and moved to Montezuma.

For years he was active in the Tilton Methodist church but more recently devoted his time to his family, obtaining great pleasure from his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, two daughters, Margaret Chickowicz, San Fernando, Calif., and Helen Garrett, Des Moines; a son, Vernley Bone, Montezuma; two granddaughters, two great granddaughters, a brother, Joe Bone, Oskaloosa, other relatives and many friends.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Steffy Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Frank Jacobs. Interment was in Golden Rod cemetery, Deep River. Casket bearers were Earl Shelton, Harold Bushong, Donald Armstrong, Clarence Dugger, Roy Zimmerman and William Spake.
