IRENE MACKIN SERVICES HELD

Irene Olive Mackin, 86, of Grinnell died Monday, Nov. 5, at Friendship Manor.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner. Pallbearers were Arthur Iverson, Lawrence Iverson, Lester Osborn, Raymond Osborn, Bert Stemsrud and Ernest Thorson.

Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Ole and Lena Enerson Christianson, she was born March 1, 1898, in Grant Township. She attended Grant No. 7 School.

On Jan. 19, 1918, she was married to Sherman E. Mackin at her parents' home in Grinnell. The couple operated Mackin's Service Station, then farmed southeast of Grinnell until moving into town in 1957.

Mrs. Mackin is survived by her daughter, Wanda Hunt of Cedar Rapids; two grandsons; and one sister, Viola Christianson of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five sisters, Mabel Stemsrud, Lillie Alertson, Blanche Osborn, Agnetta Iverson and Bessie Thorson; and her brother, Lawrence Chrstianson.
