MEMORIAL SERVICES FOR RALPH OGAN JR. SATURDAY IN GRINNELL.

GRINNELL--More than 350 sorrowing relatives and friends attended memorial services for Ralph Wilbur Ogan Jr. at 2 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Smith Funeral Home here. Rev. Myron Harris, pastor of the Friends church, conducted the religious tribute.

Interment was in Pleasant township cemetery at Ewart. City officials were honorary pallbearers. Casket bearers were members of the police department, Chief Wiley Taylor, Asst. Chief Harold Rose, Jerry Phipps, Max Allen, Jerry Barnes and Edward Butcher.

A son of Ralph and Alma Eash Ogan, he was born at Marshalltown Apr. 17, 1929. He attended the rural elementary schools near there and later the family moved to Montezuma, where he was graduated from Montezuma high in 1946.

On Dec. 24, 1950, at the Presbyterian church in Ewart, he was united in marriage with Lois Whisenand. To this union three children were born: twins Robert and Roberta, age 12, and Michael, age 11.

Soon after their marriage he entered the Army and served overseas in the Korean Conflict. He was discharged as a corporal in June of 1953.

After his discharge, he operated the Standard station in Montezuma and later moved to Grinnell where he was employed at Van's 66 until joining the Grinnell Police force in 1959.

Survivors include his parents; his wife, Lois; the three children at the home; a brother, Ronald Lyle Ogan, Osceola; a sister, Mrs. Ralph (Shirley Nadine) Lemke, Grinnell; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Nettie Eash, Marshalltown; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was a member of the Rifleman's Association and the East Central Iowa Peace Officers Association.
