RITES HELD FOR JOHN DARR

Funeral services were conducted Friday, Feb. 20, for John Darr who passed away Feb. 16. Rev. Carrol Johnson officiated at the 10:30 a.m. ceremony.

Alice Underwood played selected appropriate hymns. Casketbearers were Wilbur Baltisberger, Walter Audas, Ronald Baltisberger, John Douglas, Warren Carpenter and Leslie Douglas.

Burial was at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Malcom.

OBITUARY

John Percy Darr, son of A.L. and Charlotte Lippard Darr, was born Sept. 29, 1888 at Troutman, North Carolina, and died Feb. 16, 1959 at Montezuma, Iowa. He grew to manhood in North Carolina.

On Oct. 4, 1903 he was confirmed in the St. Martin's Lutheran Congregation and held his membership there. In 1913 he came to Iowa and farmed in this community.

On March 15, 1915 he was married to Hazel Carpenter. To this union a son was born on July 26, 1917, surviving only a few hours. In 1949 they retired from the farm and moved to Montezuma. Hazel passed away Aug. 5, 1950.

On March 16, 195? he was united in marriage with Nina Blakley at the Christian church in Oskaloosa. They made their home in Montezuma.

In addition to his wife, Nina, he is survived by two brothers, W.A. Darr and Troy Darr, two sisters, Mary Hedspeth and Dora Troutman, and a number of nieces and nephews, all of North Carolina, and many friends.
