RUSSELL KOGER SERVICES SET

Russell E. Koger, 69, of 609 Second Ave., Grinnell, died Saturday evening, Aug 17, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Daniel I. Ogata officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The son of John H. and Bessie M. Lewis Koger, he was born April 21, 1916, near Kellogg. He was raised in the Newburg area and attended school there.

On July 11, 1936, he was married to Fern A. Taylor at Newburg. The couple lived in the Newburg and Grinnell areas.

Mr. Koger was employed by the city's Street Department and later worked for Poweshiek county in road maintenance until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of the Grinnell American Legion Post.

Survivors include his wife, Fern Koger of Grinnell, five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald E. Koger of Raynesford, Mont.; and a sister, Eva Gobat of Oak Park, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Larry R. Koger; three brothers, Dean, Roy and John Koger; and one sister, Mary Paul.
